City Officials: Frear Park Golf Course Opening Day Postponed

Traditional mid-April opening of historic golf course postponed due to Coronavirus outbreak

Frear Park Pro Shop closed to the public in accordance with NYS health mandates; 2020 season passes are available for purchase by phone

Frear Park will remain open for public recreational use; playground facilities are closed

TROY, NY – In response to health concerns from the Coronavirus outbreak, Mayor Patrick Madden today announced the postponement of opening day at the City’s Frear Park Municipal Golf Course. A revised schedule will be announced at a later date.

Mayor Madden said, “In consultation with course supervisors and staff, opening day at Frear Park Golf Course has been postponed to protect the health of players and employees, along with the residents and community members who utilize the park daily. We continue to monitor local health conditions and weather forecasts, and will make a determination on opening the facility for another great season of golf in the Collar City.”

Season Passes

Under the local State of Emergency, the Frear Park Pro Shop is currently closed to the public. 2020 season passes can be purchased from the Pro Shop by phone at (518) 270-4553.
