BIRTH RECORDS
A certified copy of a birth record for a person born
in the City of Troy, New York can be requested by mail
or in person by coming to Troy City Hall. Birth records
can only be released to the person themselves if over
18 years old, a parent listed on the birth record, a
lawful representative or by court order.
You must have proper identification to obtain a
certified copy of your birth certificate or the birth
certificate of your children. A certified copy of a
court order is required for children in your custody.

are NOT
public records and their confidentiality is protected
by New York State Public Health Law. Vital Records
are not subject to the provisions of the Freedom
of Information Law (FOIL) and are not subject to
public inspection. |
Information required to obtain a birth record:
-Name at birth
-Date of birth
-Father's name
-Mother's maiden name
-Relationship of person making request
-Purpose certificate is being requested
Identification Requirements:
-Driver license
-Non-driver license
-Passport
-Employment ID
The fee for each certified copy is $10 except
for genealogy.
