Mayor Madden Announces Appointment of James A. Caruso as Troy Corporation Counsel
TROY, NY – Mayor Patrick Madden today announced the appointment of James A. Caruso as Corporation Counsel for the City of Troy. Mr. Caruso’s first day will be Wednesday, February 1.
“I am thrilled to have such a talented and qualified individual like Jim Caruso as part of my administration here at City Hall,” said Mayor Patrick Madden. “I am confident that Jim will serve the residents of Troy with distinction and professionalism as our city’s legal representative.”

An accomplished attorney and litigator, James Caruso has over three decades of experience in the legal field, most recently in private practice with a focus on criminal and family law. Previously serving as Assistant District Attorney for Albany County, Principal Law Clerk to two New York State Supreme Court Judges in Albany and Rensselaer County, and as court attorney for a Rensselaer County Family Court Judge, Mr. Caruso brings a wide range of knowledge & experience to the role of Corporation Counsel. He has also served as an adjunct and associate professor at several area colleges in criminal justice, business, and law curricula.
Mr. Caruso will replace Corporation Counsel Kevin Glasheen who will retire from the position on January 31.
