Mayor Madden: Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association Votes to Approve Tentative Labor Contract Agreement

TROY NYMayor Patrick Madden today announced the overwhelming approval of a tentative labor contract agreement by the Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 86 following a vote by the union Thursday evening. The organization represents 113 firefighters that serve the City of Troy.

“Tonight’s approval by the Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association of this responsible labor contract affirms the good faith negotiations which produced this tentative agreement,” said Mayor Patrick Madden. “I want to express my thanks to the UFA leadership and members for their efforts to develop an agreement which takes into account the city’s financial challenges while respecting the important contributions to public safety by the Troy Fire Department. I look forward to working with the City Council to bring this agreement to fruition.”

“Mayor Madden’s administration and the Troy Uniformed Firefighters have worked diligently to deliver a fair and responsible agreement for the City Council to ratify,” said President Frank Razzano, UFA Local 86. “We hope the City Council recognizes the value and benefit for city taxpayers and residents contained within this agreement. We strongly urge the Council to ratify it.”

The previous labor contract agreement between the City of Troy and the Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association expired at the conclusion of 2012. The UFA membership-approved labor agreement will go before the Troy City Council for ratification.
