The Washington Park neighborhood is located in the South Central area of Troy. It is comprised of the buildings directly fronting the park and those just north and south of the park’s borders on Second and Third Streets. The private park is overseen by the Washington Park Association (founded in 1840). The activities of the Association foster a sense of community through the joint responsibility of maintaining and preserving our primary asset – the park. Community events include guided tours of our architectural resources, summer picnics for our residents and those of adjacent neighborhoods, and participation in Troy’s annual Victorian Stroll.

The neighborhood is a showcase of urban architecture of the 19th century (Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Italianate and Classical Revival), built by many of the City’s prosperous businessmen. Current residents continue to be professionals who enjoy the convenience to downtown and the many stores, restaurants, and services available there.
