Troy's nucleus in flux
(Troy Record, August 19, 2002) - Is downtown Troy,
where so much effort is being expended to create some
kind of niche in the Capital District, headed in the
right direction? What can be done to improve things?
Is it as dangerous as some people say it is?

- South Troy Against the World
(Troy Record, August 12, 2002) - South Troy Against
the World: It is a slogan that is not as popular as it
once was, but its meaning remains the same. This community,
acting as one, can take on anything and come out on top
in the end.
08/05/02 -
Emerald Greens is unique to Troy
(Troy Record, August 5, 2002) - It's a place of one-family
houses, two cars in every driveway and kids riding anything
with wheels - bikes, skateboards, scooters or roller
blades. Welcome to Emerald Greens, where most people
greet you with a warm, friendly smile.
07/29/02 - People
key in Albia neighborhood
(Troy Record, July 29, 2002) - It's not that the
people in Albia or the East Side feel a step above everyone
else in the Collar City. It's just that this is their
neighborhood, and they never want that to change.
07/22/02
- Beman Park on verge of change
(Troy Record, July 22, 2002) - Perhaps more than
any other section of the city, the Beman Park and Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute area relies on a daily interaction
among different races, social classes and age groups
to prosper. No matter who you talk to, at some point
the conversation turns to RPI. Some people like the institution,
others do not. Most, though, admit it is vital to both
the area and the city. But what effect does it have on
those who live so close?
07/15/02 - Sycaway:
The bright side of Troy
(Troy Record, July 15, 2002) - Though separated by
less than two miles, the difference between North Central
and Sycaway is like night and day. While Troy's poorest
section faces an array of urban problems, Sycaway gives
the appearance that the number of backyard swimming pools
is greater than the number of crimes it experiences.

- Residents struggle to improve North Central
(Troy Record, July 8, 2002) - Each resident of North
Central could name a different problem affecting quality
of life, but of those that are mentioned most are the
prevalence of drugs, gangs and trash. Toss in the occasional
robbery and number of vacant buildings in North Central,
and residents have a lot to complain about. Marcia Pascarella
is known as someone who complains. But as she walks her
neighborhood, people talk to her and she listens.
07/01/02
- Lansingburgh roots run deep
(Troy Record, July 1, 2002) - Whether you call it
The Burgh or simply North Troy, Lansingburgh is a section
of the Collar City filled with tradition, potholes, and
vocal residents.
