INDUSTRIAL PARK ROAD PROJECT

Objectives

  • To encourage business growth in the South Troy area through improved property access and transportation facilities.
  • To remove commercial truck traffic from the surrounding residential streets.
It is the goal of this project to meet the above objectives in the safest and most economical manner possible.

Summary

The proposed South Troy Industrial Park Road is a major component of the Working Waterfront, which will significantly enhance and improve the neighborhood’s quality of life and the economic health of South Troy. It also increases the use of the area for industrial purposes by providing an access to serve freight and passenger traffic, while avoiding the push of industrial traffic into surrounding neighborhoods.

A future Transportation and Community System Preservation Grant will provide a connection to then Menands Bridge while preventing traffic from entering the South Troy neighborhood. The road will be designed to support adjacent uses of the South Troy Development District for purposes such as business parks and research facilities while providing a recreational atmosphere with sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, bike lanes, and transit facilities.

Financing

  • The Federal Highway Administration will fund eighty percent (80%) of the project
  • The New York State Department of Transportation will fund fifteen percent (15%)
  • The City of Troy will fund the remaining five percent (5%).
