Redemption Day for Property Tax Foreclosure Set for August 11 at Knickerbacker Ice Rink
TROY, NY – City officials have announced the last day to pay delinquent taxes and fees for properties in the City’s In Rem Property Tax Foreclosure Proceeding is Tuesday, August 11th. Affected property owners can make in-person payments at the Knickerbacker Ice Rink, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The original redemption date for the In Rem foreclosure proceeding that was commenced in January 2020, was April 17, 2020. Due to the State of Emergency declared in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, that date was postponed. The City of Troy has now scheduled redemption date for August 11, 2020. Delinquent taxes and fees can be paid online up to that date.
The City Treasurer’s Office will be at the Knickerbacker Ice Rink (191 103rd Street) on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to accept payments in person. This will be the last opportunity to pay delinquent taxes before the City begins the legal procedure to foreclose on the properties in the foreclosure proceeding.
Protocols will be in place at the rink to protect the health of participants and staff. Individuals attending the event will be required to wear a face covering at all times. Social distancing protocols will be in place. Access to the building will be limited to two (2) payers at a time. Payers will be required to provide contact information upon entering the building and separate payment stations will be available for cash or check.
Property owners are strongly encouraged to bring copies of bills with them for quick processing of payments. Individuals completing cash payments will receive a receipt.
Payments can be completed by check or money order via mail or online at www.troyny.gov/pay. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, City Hall remains closed to the public, and in-person payments at City Hall will not be available until further notice.
