2010 SPRING STREET CLEANING SCHEDULE

Dear Citizens of Troy:

In accordance with my Troy Action Team, the Department of Public Works has scheduled nine (8) weeks of street sweeping for the City of Troy. I have included the schedule for the next nine (8) weeks attached to this letter. Subsequently, the two (2) week schedule will be posted in the Troy Record every Saturday. In order for the City of Troy to be cleaned properly and efficiently, everyone’s cooperation is being requested during this nine (8) week program.

The two (2) week Street Sweeping Schedule should give you sufficient notice to prepare for the street sweeping in your neighborhood. Hopefully you, or your organization, can help spread the word about this important program. We hope this information reaches everyone to help make this program a complete success.

Some helpful information regarding the Street Sweeping Program

• Become aware of when your area will be cleaned. Check the schedule it will appear in the Troy Record every Saturday or check out the full 8 weeks schedule on the web at www.troyny.gov Most importantly, please move your cars so that the street sweeper and DPW staff can properly clean your street.
• Sweep or wash your sidewalks and rake your lawns before the sweepers come onto your street and, also sweep the dirt in the curbs and gutters into small piles to help facilitate easy pickup.
• This Program is not for Bulk Trash pickup. Bulk trash pickup is a year long program.
• Uncooperative car owners will have their vehicles towed at the owner’s expense (approx. $135.00). All streets will be posted for “No Parking” as required. Please notify DPW (270-4579) in advance if you know of any abandoned, unregistered or inoperative vehicles.
• Please take a few moments to clean your alley or back yard and cut down any weeds or brush. Please place the material in a biodegradable bag or bundle the brush to facilitate collection.
• Regular refuse collection will be done on a daily basis.

In conclusion, we need everyone’s cooperation in making this year’s Street Sweeping Program the most successful yet! You can also view the entire Street Sweeping schedule at www.troyny.gov or you may call the Department of Public Works at 270-4579 should you have any questions about the program.
