Statement by Mayor Madden on Approval of Troy Police Benevolent Association Labor Contract

TROY NYMayor Patrick Madden issued the following statement following the approval of a labor agreement between the City of Troy, New York and the Troy Police Benevolent and Protection Association:

“Part of keeping our community safe is ensuring our public safety departments have the support they need to protect our families and neighborhoods. The bipartisan approval of this important agreement acknowledges the important work of the dedicated men and women of the Troy Police Department who serve our city and continues my administration’s efforts to fairly resolve all remaining outstanding labor agreements with the city’s negotiating units.”

Tonight’s approved agreement is the second voluntary labor settlement reached by the Madden administration since assuming office in January of 2016, including a prior contract with the Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association IAFF Local 86 in 2016. The previous labor contract agreement between the City of Troy and the Troy PBA expired on December 31, 2012. The tentative contract agreement was ratified by the PBA membership on Thursday, October 12.
