Statement from Mayor Madden on the Death of HVCC President Emeritus Andrew Matonak

“I’m shocked and saddened at the death of former Hudson Valley Community College president Drew Matonak, a leader in the field of higher education and learning in the Capital Region. During his 13-year tenure at Hudson Valley Community College, Drew presided over not only the expansion of the college’s educational degrees, programs, and opportunities, but also the modernization of the HVCC campus here in Troy. His contributions to grow and enrich academic services at HVCC represent a legacy that will impact generations of students. I am grateful for his years of service to improving the Troy and Rensselaer County communities, and extend my sincerest condolences to Karen and Taylor Matonak, and the entire HVCC community during this difficult time.”
