Troy Fire Department announce temporary staffing changes in response to Campbell Avenue road closure

TROY, NY – In response to the recently announced extension of road closures on Campbell Avenue caused by yesterday’s heavy rainfall, the City of Troy has announced the Troy Fire Department will temporarily increase staffing to maintain the department’s emergency capabilities. One additional firefighter per shift will be stationed at the Canal Avenue Firehouse, located at the corner of Canal Avenue and Third Street.

“After last night’s severe storm and the resulting extension of repair operations for Campbell Avenue, the Troy Fire Department is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and security of our residents and firefighters,” said Troy Fire Chief Thomas Garrett. “After consultation with Mayor Patrick Madden’s office, I have implemented a temporary staffing increase as circumstances require to preserve the effectiveness of the department’s firefighting capabilities.”

The temporary staffing changes will begin Thursday, February 25, at 8:00 p.m.
