Troy Officials: Neighborhood Cooling Stations Available on Sunday, Monday

Troy Officials: Neighborhood Cooling Stations Available on Sunday, Monday

TROY, NY – With warmer temperatures expected for the Capital Region, city officials today announced the City of Troy will activate cooling stations in four neighborhood locations beginning Sunday, August 5. Residents can visit four cooling stations established by the Troy Fire Department (weather permitting) on Sunday, August 5, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Monday, August 6, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the following locations:

Lansingburgh
120th Street Park
(120th Street and 1st Ave.)

Little Italy
Little Italy Market Place
(5th Avenue, Liberty and Hill Streets)

North Central
7th Ave Park
(Ingalls Avenue and 7th Ave.)

South Troy
Canal Street Park
(3rd Street and Canal Ave.)

Additionally, splash pads are open to the public at various city parks, including: Frear Park, Prospect Park, Knickerbacker Park and Riverfront Park. The Troy Housing Authority will be allowing residents to access to their six Splash Pad Play Areas located at Phelan Court, Fallon Apartments, Griswold Heights, Martin Luther King Apartments, the Taylor Apartments and Corliss Park.

Mayor Madden is reminding residents to take precautions to stay safe during the warm weather. Please reduce strenuous activity and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated during the warmest periods of the day. Residents are also asked to check on neighbors, including the elderly, sick, disabled, and those with young children.
