September 24, 2019 – The Troy Police Department issued the following update:
“The Troy Police Department is reporting that after a brief investigation, a man has been arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest. On Monday , September 23rd, at around 4:45 pm, members of the Troy Police Department SOS, Detectives and Patrol converged on the area of 9th street and Rensselaer Street in the North Central section of the city. Officers observed a male suspect that was believed to be in possession of a gun and was also wanted on a bench warrant. When officers approached the male, he fled on foot, a foot pursuit ensued which lead them to 299 9th street. The suspect was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a defaced 9mm handgun. The suspect was taken to the Station for processing and held for arraignment in Troy City Court. During the pursuit and apprehension of the suspect, two officers sustained injuries requiring medical attention. Both officers are expected to be okay. Thank you to the officers involved and we appreciate their commitment to helping keep Troy safe.”
