Striped Bass Tournament & Block Party

Each year a multitude of fishermen from around the world make their way to the City of Troy to fish for striped bass in the Hudson River. This tournament provides even more exposure for the great resource we have in the Hudson River. It is an asset with which our local cities were built, and an asset that thousands of people continue to use each year.

The 5th Annual Striped Bass Tournament and block party will be held on May 15th. Fishing starts at 7am with the block party kicking off at 4pm. This year a portion of the entry fee will be donated to MILITARY MOM IN ACTION, a Rensselaer County Mothers Group that sends packages to our military men & women over seas. Also to benefit the Troy Flag Day Parade.

Fishing

Fishing is from 7am - 4 pm. The boundaries are from the second set of power lines that cross the river south of the Menands Bridge to the Troy Federal Lock.

Block Party & Award Ceremony

The party takes place along River Street, directly in front of the Ale House. The festivities at the Ale House will start at 4:30pm. Food, beer and soda with door prizes and awards ceremony taking place at 6:00pm. 1st through 8th place winners will be recognized. 1st place will also win Mayor’s Cup, presented by Troy Mayor, Harry Tutunjian. Top eight prize winners will be: The Troy Striper Tournament 2010 All Americans!

Registration

The Tournament will be held rain or shine and is open to everyone except Tournament staff. Shore fishing is also permissible. Registration is $60 per person. If competing in a boat, all occupants of the boat must be registered in the contest.
