DO I NEED A PERMIT | To determine if your project requires a permit, please email the Building Permit Office or call us at 518-687-1140.
You may pick up a permit application from the Code Enforcement office at City Hall or download one. A list of permit applications are available on our Forms and Permits page.
Permit fees are based on the Fee Schedule from the City Code under section §141-8. To see a full list of fees View Schedule of Fees (PDF).
ATTENTION: Permit Fees are payable by check or cash only. Please make checks payable to City of Troy.
Permits that require a plan review are issued on an appointment basis only.
Non-review permits such as barricade and siding permits may be issued on a walk-in basis.
The Building Permit Office reviews plans, issues permits and provides inspections for the following:
- Building (new, additions, alterations, excavations, repairs, roofing , siding , signs)
- Swimming Pools
- Solar Panels
Barricade Permit Application for:
- Moving pods
- Lift and scaffolding
- Sidewalk repair and replacement
- Water and sewer line repair and Installation
Call Before You Build
Performing work on a new or existing building without the proper permit(s), is subject to violations and fines including, but not limited to, Stop Work Order, Working Without Permits, and general code violations. Call before you build.
