TROY, NY – Officials with the Department of General Services announced that bulk pickup will resume on May 10th. Troy residents can request items such as furniture, appliances, carpets, mattresses, etc. be picked up by scheduling an appointment with the Department of Public Works (DPW).
To schedule a bulk pickup, residents must contact the DPW dispatcher at (518) 270-4579. Residents should not place bulk items curbside prior to contacting DPW. Doing so will violate City Code and you may be assessed a fine.
There is a $25.00 haul charge for all scheduled bulk collections up to 2 cubic yards (ex: washer and dryer side by side). Non-owner-occupied properties will be charged an additional fee based upon specific bulk waste items. Tenants are asked to coordinate with their landlord or property owner when scheduling a bulk pickup. Owner-occupied properties are exempt from itemized charges.
Property owners who use private garbage collection can utilize the City’s bulk collection service, but will be subject to the haul charge and additional per-item fees.
