City Hall Closed for Veterans Day

TROY, NY (November 10, 2021) – City officials have announced that City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 11th, in observation of Veterans Day, and will reopen Friday, November 12th, at 8:30 a.m.

Municipal garbage and recycling collection will proceed as scheduled on Thursday, November 11th. City residents who normally receive Thursday collection should place garbage and recycling bins out Wednesday night. The City’s recycling facility will be closed (normally open for residential drop off from 9 a.m. – 1p.m. Thursdays). Leaf bag and bulk collection will be suspended for Thursday.

Mayor Madden reminds residents and property owners to keep sidewalks and curb ramps adjacent to their property free of obstacles when placing garbage and recycling bins out for collection. Cooperation from the public will help keep our community accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

About the City of Troy:

Incorporated in 1816, the City of Troy is the seat of Rensselaer County government and the county’s largest municipality by population. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, the City boasts seven miles of waterfront, a largely-preserved historic downtown, diverse neighborhoods, and several major colleges and universities. Troy’s history as the nation’s largest manufacturer of detachable cuffs and collars earned the City’s nickname “the Collar City.” A former steel & iron manufacturing powerhouse of the 19th and early 20th century, the City is now home to a growing hub of tech, game development, restaurants, and retail.
