City Officials Issue Update on Bulk Collection

TROY, NY – Department of Public Works officials today announced a modified bulk collection program for the months of October and November. This service will be available by appointment only on Saturdays, beginning October 10th, on a first come, first serve basis.

To schedule a bulk pickup appointment, please contact the DPW dispatcher at (518) 270-4579. Bulk items should not be placed curbside prior to contacting DPW. Doing so will result in a violation & fine issued to the property owner.

Bulk pickup collection will continue through November 21st. This service will be suspended during the winter season, and will resume in April 2021.

There is a $25.00 haul charge for all scheduled bulk collections up to 2 cubic yards (example: washer and dryer side by side). Non-owner-occupied properties will be charged an additional fee based upon specific bulk waste items. Owner-occupied properties are exempt from itemized charges.

The following properties, including but not limited to, are prohibited from utilizing the City’s bulk refuse collection service:

  • commercial rental properties (offices, retail businesses, commercial apartment buildings)
  • not-for-profit agencies
