City Officials Issue Update on Leaf Bag Collection

City Officials Issue Update on Leaf Bag Collection

Earlier this fall, the City provided over 2,500 complimentary leaf bags to Troy residents. Due to the popularity of this program, all leaf bags have been claimed.

Beginning Monday, October 28th, leaf pickup will occur during normal residential garbage and recycling collection day (except during a significant snowfall). Public Works will collect on a weekly basis.

Please place bagged leaves out with your garbage & recycling bins (example: if your garbage is collected in an alley on Tuesday morning, you should put out leaf bags with your collection bins Monday night).

  • To ensure a quick and effective leaf pickup program, piled leaves are not being collected at this time.
  • Please use paper bags only. Do not place sticks, dirt, or other debris in the bags. Bags containing items other than leaves will not be collected.
  • It’s important to avoid piling leaves in the street. This can cause blockages in sewer drains during heavy rainfall, or create obstructions for traffic. Please bag all leaves for collection.

We thank the public for their cooperation to complete the annual leaf collection program before the winter season begins.

For questions on the 2019 leaf pickup program, or to report a missed collection, please contact the Public Works dispatcher at (518) 270-4579.
