Mayor Madden Announces Opening of City Splash Pads for Summer Season

TROY, NY (June 4, 2021) – With hot weather expected to impact the Capital Region this weekend, Mayor Patrick Madden today announced the reopening of six City-operated splash pads and fountains. Beginning Saturday, June 5th, splash pads will be open daily from sunrise to sunset, with the exception of Riverfront Park which will operate from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Admission is free at all City-operated splash pads.

Splash pads are available at the following locations:

  • Frear Park
    • Adjacent to Frear Park Ice Rink
  • Knickerbacker Park
    • 7th and 104th Street
  • Prospect Park
    • 65 Prospect Park Road
  • Riverfront Park
    • River Street/Front Street
  • 7th Avenue Park
    • Corner of Ingalls and 7th Avenue
  • Corliss Park
    • 1100 8th Avenue

Mayor Madden said “With high temperatures forecast for the weekend, we’re opening our splash pad facilities to help local families and residents keep cool. I encourage residents to take precautions during the warmest times of the day, and to check on neighbors, relatives, and those who may be most vulnerable during periods of elevated temperatures.”

Health Precautions

Splash pad facilities are not actively monitored; guests should use best judgment when visiting public locations. Parents are asked to closely watch their children.

Per CDC guidance, individuals who are not fully vaccinated should continue to use a mask or face covering in public. However, please do not wear a face covering when in the water. Cloth face coverings can cause breathing difficulties when wet.
