Mayor Madden: City of Troy Extends Neighborhood Cooling Stations

Mayor Madden: City of Troy Extends Availability of Neighborhood Cooling Stations

TROY, NY – In response to continued warm weather expected across the Capital Region, Mayor Patrick Madden today announced that the City of Troy will continue to operate cooling stations in neighborhoods throughout the week. Cooling stations will be provided by the Troy Fire Department at the following locations on Tuesday, July 3, through Friday, July 6 (weather permitting) from 1:00pm until 8:00pm at the following locations:

120th Street Park
(120th Street and 1st Ave.)
Little Italy
Little Italy Market Place
(5th Avenue, Liberty and Hill Streets)
North Central
7th Ave Park
(Ingalls Avenue and 7th Ave.)
South Troy
Canal Street Park
(3rd Street and Canal Ave.)

The City of Troy’s splash pads will be open to the public at various Troy parks, including: Frear Park, Prospect Park, Knickerbacker Park and Riverfront Park. The Troy Housing Authority will be allowing residents to access to their six Splash Pad Play Areas located at Phelan Court, Fallon Apartments, Griswold Heights, Martin Luther King Apartments, the Taylor Apartments and Corliss Park.

Mayor Madden is also reminding residents to take precautions to stay safe during the warm weather and to remain vigilant for symptoms of heat-related illnesses. Please reduce or eliminate strenuous activity and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated during the warmest periods of the day. Residents are also asked to check on neighbors, including the elderly, sick, disabled, and those with young children. Additional safety tips are available from the National Weather Service at
