TROY, NY – On Tuesday, August 8, Mayor Patrick Madden was joined by Sabrina M. Ty, CEO & President of the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, Chris Wheland, Superintendent, Troy Department of Public Utilities, and local officials to mark the completion of a major drinking water infrastructure improvement project in the City of Troy, New York. The $3.2M project funded by EFC, which involved the installation of approximately one mile of 36-inch ductile iron pipe, further expands the capacity & reliability of the City of Troy’s drinking water infrastructure system, replacing a century-old 33-inch water transmission which ruptured on January 17, 2016. Approximately 135,000 customers in nine communities across three Capital Region counties are provided water services by the City of Troy’s drinking water system.
