Mayor Patrick Madden Statement on Approval of City of Troy 2017 Budget
TROY, NY – Mayor Patrick Madden has issued the following statement regarding the passage of the City of Troy 2017 budget by the Troy City Council:
“I am grateful for the bipartisan support from the City Council that led to the passage of a balanced budget Monday evening. While the budget passed is less than ideal it demonstrates a pragmatic approach to governing that attempts to balance competing interests and is far better for our city than the alternative resulting from a failure to override the tax cap.
“A great deal of work remains to be done before January 1 to implement this spending plan. The unfortunate reality is that under this budget there will be layoffs and reductions in services. I am committed to managing its implementation in a manner which minimizes the pain and inconvenience of both the taxpayers and the city workforce.
“Troy is a remarkable city with remarkable people, and I am confident that our resiliency and mutual passion for our community will see us through the challenges ahead.”
