UPDATE: the boil water advisory has been lifted, effective Thursday, December 30th.
TROY, NY (December 27, 2021) – Officials with the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) have announced a boil water advisory will be in effect following restoration of water service for any customers in City of Troy who experienced loss of water pressure resulting from Monday’s water main break on Northern Drive. Northern Drive between 5th and 8th Avenues remains closed to vehicle traffic.
Customers affected by the water main break are on the following streets located north of Northern Drive in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood:
- 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th Avenues
- M, N, O and R Streets
- Corliss Park Apartments (Troy Housing Authority)
Affected customers should boil water before use for drinking or cooking purposes. To do so, bring the water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by New York State Department of Health. After water service is restored, customers who experience discolored water should run their cold water faucet for five to 10 minutes until water runs clear.
