TROY, NY (August 27, 2021) – The Troy Police Department is appealing to the public regarding the ongoing homicide investigation involving victims Caesar Soriano and Khalid Monroe. Police Captain Steven Barker has issued the below statement:
“We are hoping for your help to draw attention to an ongoing investigation. We are nearing the one year anniversary of the killing of two men in our city, we are hoping by highlighting the story we might encourage any individual with information to come forward.
“On August 28th, 2020 Caesar Soriano and Khalid Monroe were shot and killed as they stood on the corner of 7th Avenue and Glen Avenue in the City of Troy. Caesar was a hard working young man and the loving father of two young children, one of whom was only 1 month old at the time of his death. Caesar was 26 years old at the time of his death.
“Khalid was the loving father of three young children, Khalid was 25 years old at the time of his death.
“The City of Troy Police Department and the families of Caesar Soriano and Khalid Monroe continue to seek justice. Troy Detectives have continued to actively investigate these homicides and we are hoping another appeal to the public generates much needed leads for their investigation.
“We cannot be successful without the community’s involvement. We believe someone must have information regarding the killing of these two men. We encourage anyone with information pertaining to the murder of Caesar Soriano and Khalid Monroe to call lead Detective Sergeant Joseph McNall at (518)270-4658.
