City Officials Issue Statement on Uncle Sam Parking Garage

TROY, NY – Administration officials have issued the following statement regarding the Uncle Sam Parking Garage, a privately owned parking structure located in historic downtown Troy:

“On Sunday, the City received additional documentation from engineers for Bryce Companies—owner of the Uncle Sam Parking Garage, a privately owned parking facility in downtown Troy—which satisfied the City’s concerns with safety issues outlined in the independent condition assessment report received last week.

“Engineers for Bryce Companies confirmed the facility is safe for public use. Impacted areas of the garage remain restricted, and the facility will reopen beginning Monday, January 27th.

“Initiating a temporary closure of the Uncle Sam Parking Garage was part of the City’s committment to ensure the safety of tenants, residents, and businesses who use the facility. Public safety remains our primary concern, and we will continue to monitor the status of work at the garage.

“Residents can help prevent the spread of rumors or misinformation online. Always double-check the accuracy of information found on social media before sharing. Verify using official resources including the City website (www.troyny.gov), official City social media pages (facebook.com/troy518 / twitter.com/TroyCityHall / twitter.com/TroyNYPolice), or qualified City department heads and administration officials.”
