Winter Weather Update: February 13, 2017

February 13, 2017 by Troy City Hall

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | FEBRUARY 13, 2017

City of Troy New York Winter Weather Update for February 13, 2017. Snow cleanup and pushback efforts will continue throughout this week coinciding with the normal city street cleaning schedule. Normal parking restrictions will apply and residents are reminded to observe all posted parking signs. Department of Public Works will be posting additional areas for cleanup and snow removal. Vehicles in violation of posted parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense. At this time, residents are encouraged to use public parking lots in their neighborhoods, including: the 5th Avenue parking garage and the State Street parking garage, along with city surface parking areas located at the Little Italy Market lot, the Green Island lot, the 5th Avenue & Congress Street lot, Knickerbacker Ice Facility, South Troy Pool and the Frear Park Golf Course. If available, please park your vehicle in your driveway to keep city roadways as clear of obstacles as possible. Your cooperation will assist in keeping our streets open and passable. Residents are reminded to clear snow from sidewalks adjacent to their property. Clearing your sidewalk will assist those with mobility issues, including the disabled and elderly, and will help first responders (Police and Fire Departments) during possible medical emergencies in your neighborhood. Do NOT shovel snow into city roadways. It is against the law, creates a hazard and will reduce the effectiveness of snow cleanup operations by city crews. Help the Troy Fire Department and protect your family and neighborhood by shoveling out any fire hydrants near your home during and after a snowstorm. In the event of an emergency this will save firefighters valuable time when they first arrive at the scene of a fire. Learn more by visiting TroyNY.gov
