Troy Police Arrest Seven on Drug and Firearm Charges

Home Posted on February 01, 2024

Wednesday afternoon Troy Police Detectives executed a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of seven individuals and the seizure of an illegal unserialized firearm, narcotic drugs and US currency.

Earlier this week Troy Police Special Operations Section Detectives received information from a Troy community member regarding illegal drug sales at a residence on Glen Avenue in Troy. Detectives continued their investigation and developed the probable cause necessary to support a court-ordered search warrant being issued. On Tuesday afternoon shortly after 3pm the Troy Police Department Emergency Response Team, assisted by our partners in the Colonie Police Department Special Services Team, executed the search warrant at 28 Glen Avenue in Troy. Also at the scene were members of our Detective Division, Patrol Division, Evidence Technicians, Troy Fire Department Personnel, representatives from the City of Troy Code Enforcement Department and Troy’s Animal Control Officer. As a result of the search warrant an illegal, unserialized privately-made-firearm was seized as well as heroin, cocaine and fentanyl. Evidence Technicians processed the scene and seven adults were taken into custody.

“We are extremely proud of the work of the Troy Police Department and partnering agencies.“, said Mayor Carmella Mantello. “This is another component of the Quality of Life Action Task Force taking drugs and guns off our streets. We will continue working hard to make our streets safer and cleaner.”

Tuesday’s efforts were exemplative of a collaborative effort across disciplines, all with the common goal of a safer Troy. Community members provided necessary information that enabled our members to conduct an investigation, an operation that then included several departments within our Troy City Government all with their own unique resources. The investigation does not conclude with yesterday’s search warrant. Detectives have several additional elements that continue to be explored and our Troy Code Enforcement officials will remain involved throughout the investigation.

I want to thank the other departments that assisted in this operation, the expansion of resources allow our approach to hopefully solve problems instead of treating symptoms. I also would like to encourage our community, if you have information regarding suspicious activity or an ongoing investigation, to please reach out to Detectives. Our Detectives can be reached at (518) 270-4421 or information can be provided online at Troypd.org.
