Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission regulates the employment and working conditions of civil servants, oversees hiring and promotions, and promotes the values of the public service.
The Ethics Commission was created as an independent agency charged with promoting and enforcing The City of Troy, NY’s ethics and municipal law while rebuilding public trust in government.
Historic District & Landmarks Review Commission
As guardian of Troy's Historic Districts, the Historic District and Landmarks Review Commission works with property owners planning rehabilitation and new construction that will impact the exterior appearance of their buildings to make sure the work conforms to Troy's local historic district standards.
Troy Independent Redistricting Commission
Pursuant to Section C 2 of the Troy City Charter, the Troy Independent Redistricting Committee is charged with the task of determining whether the present City Council districts comply with the requirements of Section C 2 of the Troy City Charter, and if they do not comply, to recommend a new districting scheme.
The Planning Commission strives to promote the excellence of site design so as to improve the attractiveness of our communities, minimize negative influences of discomplementary uses, protects the natural environment, minimize traffic conflicts and congestion, and to protect the public health, safety and welfare.
Zoning Board of Appeals
The powers and duties of the Board are specified and governed by City law. The Board of Appeals holds public hearings and decides appeals from decisions and determinations made by the City building inspector as well as matters referred to it as prescribed by City law.
