TROY, NY (May 21) – Mayor Carmella Mantello has introduced the city’s new ‘Pitch in’ Program, an initiative that invites residents to adopt part of Troy.
The City of Troy ‘Pitch In’ program encourages residents, businesses, and community groups to ‘adopt’ an alleyway, gateway, neighborhood, or waterfront site. ‘Adopting’ streets, alleyways and gateways will encourage residents and businesses to keep that area clean, whether it be planting a flower bed or picking up garbage, and build pride throughout the city.
“Several neighborhood associations, residents and businesses are already volunteering their time to help us keep Troy clean,” said Mayor Mantello. “The ‘Pitch In’ program will allow us to recognize these efforts and encourage more individuals to get involved.”
The efforts of the ‘Pitch In’ program will complement that of the Quality of Life Action Task Force by cleaning streets, picking up litter, painting, planting flowers and all together beautifying our city as a team.
“A cleaner neighborhood goes hand in hand with a safer one,” Mayor Mantello continued. “We want Troy to be a place that everyone is proud of. With this program, our residents can be a part of the change.”
The mayor’s legislation will be acted on by the Troy City Council this Thursday, May 23.
