Mayor Mantello Announces Free Bulk Trash Drop-Off for Troy Residents

TROY, NY – Mayor Carmella R. Mantello today announced the return of the free bulk trash drop-off program for City of Troy residents. This initiative will allow residents to dispose of household items as the spring cleaning begins.

Beginning in 2024, to help relieve financial stress on families, the Mantello Administration began free bulk trash drop-offs for the first time in decades. The administration’s commitment to continue this service is made possible through the hard work of the city’s Quality-of-Life Task Force.

“This free bulk trash drop-off for city residents continues our commitment to making our streets cleaner and safer through our Quality-of-Life Action Task Force,” said Mayor Mantello. “For too many years, residents were feeling the strain on their finances of having to pay for bulk trash drop-offs, this led to an increase in illegal dumping of mattresses, couches, and other items along our streets and alleyways. I am proud to continue this free of charge service, so our residents are not burdened by disposal fees and our streets remain safe and clean.”

The free bulk trash drop-off service will occur Saturday, March 29th, Friday, April 11th, and Saturday, May 3rd (weather dependent) from 9:00am – 1:00pm at the Troy Resource Management Facility, commonly known as the Alamo. Residents must provide proof of City of Troy residency to participate.
