City of Troy Unveils Historic Proctors Theatre as Future Home of City Hall

(TROY, NY) - In a historic announcement, Mayor Carmella R. Mantello unveiled that the iconic Proctors Theatre building in downtown Troy will become the permanent home of Troy City Hall.

The long-vacant landmark will be thoughtfully renovated and repurposed into a modern, accessible government center. Plans include transforming the theater and seating area into a new Assembly Hall where public voices will be heard and civic decisions made. A historic lobby will feature preserved artifacts and memorabilia that celebrate Troy’s rich history.

“This is more than a building - it’s a commitment to the people of Troy,” said Mayor Mantello. “We promised a permanent City Hall, and this is a major step forward in delivering it.”

A full parking assessment confirmed sufficient availability for existing tenants, City Hall employees, and the public, utilizing the garage located directly behind the building by 2027.
