Rechargeable & Single-Use Battery Information

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES MUST BE RECYCLED THROUGH SPECIAL TAKE-BACK PROGRAMS

Batteries are split into two categories: rechargeable and single-use. Rechargeable batteries must always be brought to a special take back program - if thrown out or put into your recycling bin or garbage can, they can cause fires putting our Sanitation Team at risk.

To safely recycle your single-use batteries, sign up for a time slot at our next hazardous waste event or find a retail store closest to you. Stores that sell rechargeable batteries are required to accept them for recycling.

When bringing in batteries to a take back program or a household hazardous waste event, make sure to tape both terminals (+ and -) with clear non-conductive tape to prevent potential hazards.
