[ARCHIVED] Mayor Mantello Announces Hiring of City Communications Director

Alex Horton

Troy, NY (Jan 14) - Mayor Carmella Mantello has announced the appointment of Alex Horton, as Director of Communications for the City of Troy. In this role, Horton will oversee all city communications, including public relations, media outreach, digital content, and community engagement initiatives.

Mayor Mantello expressed enthusiasm for the hire saying: "Alex brings a great amount of experience in strategic communications, and a strong commitment to transparent and effective communication with our residents. We are confident he will help us build stronger connections within our community and enhance our ability to share important information with the public."

Horton joins the City of Troy having previously served as a Field Representative in the United States House of Representatives for former Congressman, Marc Molinaro in New York's 19th Congressional District from January 2023 to January 2025, as well as Campaign Manager in 2022 for New York State Supreme Court Justice, Thomas Marcelle in Third Judicial District.

"I am very excited and grateful to join Mayor Mantello's administration as Communications Director in the Collar City of Troy and the birthplace of Uncle Sam. I look forward to collaborating with city leaders, departments, staff, and the community to ensure open and effective communications that reflects the city's goals and values," said Horton.

Horton holds a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications from SUNY Oneonta with a minor in political science.
