Sublease Extension Announced for Temporary New Restaurant and Lounge at Frear Park

First Phase of Frear Park Transformation Revitalization Project Underway

Troy, NY (Feb 21) - Mayor Carmella R. Mantello today announced an exciting new addition to Frear Park with the arrival of a temporary restaurant and lounge crafted by the spirit of the community and Capital Region while the first phase of the revitalization project takes shape. The establishment will be operated by Troy native Brad Stevens, a longtime hospitality professional with deep roots in the city. The owner of the former Park Pub Restaurant, Mark Miron, will be the sublessor. Under the new sublease agreement, the restaurant and lounge will provide a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy quality food, beverages, and camaraderie. With a focus on local flavors and community engagement, the venue will bring fresh energy to Frear Park while enhancing the overall experience for residents and visitors.

Mayor Mantello emphasized the significance of this addition to the park and the broader Troy community.

“Frear Park is one of Troy’s greatest assets, and this partnership will further enhance its appeal not just for golfers, but for the entire community,” said Mayor Mantello. “This is about creating a vibrant gathering space where people can connect, unwind, and enjoy all that Troy has to offer. We are thrilled to welcome Brad Stevens back to his hometown to help make this vision a reality. While we look down the road toward a bigger, exciting, and permanent restaurant at Frear Park, Brad will provide a beautiful space with amazing food for everyone to enjoy, in the interim. I would be remised if did not give thanks to Mark Miron for helping bring this together and for the many years of hard work and dedication to the Park Pub Restaurant. Mark’s contributions have left a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for all he has done for Troy. The Frear Park transformational Revitalization Project exemplifies that Frear Park is more than a golf course. Frear Park is our largest park with over 82 acres, and this project will not only benefit the Sycaway and North Central neighborhoods but the city and the region.”

Brad Stevens expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Troy and contributing to the city’s ongoing revitalization. “It’s great to be back in Troy, a city that has always meant so much to me,” said Stevens. “Troy is a prime destination for investment and growth, and I’m excited to bring new energy to Frear Park with this project. We’re looking forward to offering great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and, of course, keeping the famous peanut butter and jelly wings on the menu!”

The temporary restaurant and lounge is expected to open in time for the upcoming golf season, providing an exciting new amenity at one of Troy’s most cherished public spaces. More details on the grand opening and menu offerings will be announced soon. The full transformation and Request for Proposal (RFP) will be announced in the near future.
