South Troy Pool Set to Open June 28th, Splash Pad Availability, Cooling Station - Bringing Summer Fun and Vital Services to the Community
(TROY, NY) - The City of Troy is proud to announce the official opening of the South Troy Pool on Saturday, June 28, 2025, marking the return of a beloved summer destination for families, children, and residents of all ages. Located in the heart of South Troy, the pool will be open seven days a week, offering a wide range of free recreational and youth services throughout the summer.
Throughout the week, the South Troy Pool will be open daily from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, providing a safe and welcoming space for families to cool off, connect, and stay active during the hot summer months.
In partnership with the Capital Area Boys & Girls Club, the pool will also offer free meals for youth Monday through Friday from 1:00PM to 2:00 PM, ensuring that children in the community have access to nutritious food in a fun, supportive environment. Additionally, snacks will be provided from 3:00pm – 4:00pm.
Additionally, the City of Troy in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital area are excited to offer free children's swim lessons each morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for both beginner and advanced swimmers. These lessons are designed to promote water safety and confidence in the pool, while also providing valuable life skills. “This is more than just a pool opening - this is a celebration of community, safety, and opportunity,” said Mayor Carmella Mantello. “We are committed to investing in our neighborhoods and giving our families access to high-quality recreational programs, especially during the summer months. I encourage all residents to take advantage of the free lessons, meals, and the chance to make great memories at the South Troy Pool.”
CEO of Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area, Patrick Doyle expressed his excitement for the opening saying, “We’re not just opening a pool – we’re building a summer experience that brings people together. Our team is energized and ready to deliver high-quality programming, with safety and inclusion at the heart of everything we do.”
In addition to programming, the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area is seeking to collaborate with other local organizations to create a well-rounded calendar of events and activities that reflect the diverse interests of our community. The splash pads in Troy are open daily from sunrise until sunset, giving families and kids plenty of time to enjoy water play throughout the day. These free, accessible water features provide a fun, safe, and refreshing way to beat the summer heat in our community. The locations for the City of Troy splash pads are as follows:
- Corliss Park - 1100 8th Avenue
- Geneva Pompey Park - 7th Avenue & Ingalls Avenue
- Frear Park - Lavin Court (adjacent to Ice Rink)
- Prospect Park - 65 Prospect Park Road
- 112th Street Park - Intersection of 112th and Park Place
- William Chamberlain Riverfront Park - 255 Front Street (currently under repair, expected to be fixed as soon as possible)
A cooling station at the Historic Market in Little Italy (5th Avenue, Liberty & Hill Street) will be open from 12:00pm - 6:00pm throughout the week for those in need.
