[ARCHIVED] Mayor Mantello Announces Partnership with American Cruise Lines

ACL

TROY, NY (Oct 22) – Mayor Carmella Mantello today announced an exciting new partnership between the City of Troy and American Cruise Lines, designed to enhance local tourism and generate economic growth.

With this new partnership, the cruise line will be granted a temporary docking license at the southern end of Troy’s South Dock, bringing passengers from across the state and beyond to explore the city's many attractions. The partnership is expected to attract hundreds of visitors each year, further establishing Troy as a premier destination in the Hudson River Valley.

“We are thrilled to welcome American Cruise Lines to Troy,” said Mayor Mantello. “This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our city’s rich history, breathtaking views, and vibrant local businesses. Visitors will be able to experience everything from our beautiful riverfront to our thriving arts scene, helping to boost tourism and strengthen our local economy.”

American Cruise Lines President and CEO, Charles B. Robertson said, "We are very pleased to partner with the City of Troy, New York to offer the only overnight cruises on the Hudson River. We appreciate the warn welcome from Troy and each of the towns we visit in the Hudson River Valley. Next year we will offer 7-night cruises between Manhattan and Troy from June to November. We look forward to visiting Troy with our guests for many years to come.”

Executive Director Olivia Clemente from the Downtown Business Improvement District said, “We are incredibly excited about the new partnership between the City of Troy and American Cruise Lines. This initiative not only highlights Troy as a prime destination in the Hudson River Valley but also promises to significantly increase foot traffic to our local businesses. By welcoming hundreds of new visitors each year, we can showcase our unique attractions, vibrant arts scene, and rich history, ultimately fostering economic growth and enhancing the overall experience for both tourists, business owners and residents alike.”

For the remainder of the 2024 season, American Cruise Lines will dock in Troy for 32 hours each time, providing guests with the opportunity to experience the city's historic landmarks, scenic riverfront, local breweries, and artisanal shops. In 2025, the cruise line will extend its stay and rotate passengers in Troy, with disembarking guests able to explore the city, while new passengers board. With this new docking option, American Cruise Lines will be extending their Hudson River cruises to include a summer season, on top of their existing fall foliage tours. All ships in the American’s fleet accommodate 90-180 people.
