[ARCHIVED] Bag Leaves and Yard Waste in Paper Bags

🍂 🍂PLEASE BAG LEAVES AND YARD WASTE IN PAPER BAGS🍂🍂

TROY, NY (Nov 7) – Mayor Mantello encourages residents to bag leaves and yard waste. Collecting bags instead of clearing the road of loose foliage in the street is more efficient. This also allows the city workforce to focus on cleaning curbs and catch basins.

“In our continued effort to encourage our residents to pitch in, we remind residents the proper way to dispose of leaves and yard waste, is bagging and putting out on your regularly scheduled waste pick up day. Great job to our crews for working tirelessly in prepping for the colder months,” says Mayor Mantello.

REMINDERS:

Leaves must be placed in brown recyclable paper leaf bags. Leaves will be collected on residents' normal collection day and pickup will continue through either the first snowfall or the first week of December; whichever comes first.

Leaves placed in plastic bags will not be collected. Bags containing dirt, sand, rocks, sod or other such materials will not be collected. Brush should not be placed in leaf bags.

Residents are reminded to not rake leaves into the street. This can block street drainage infrastructure during rain events and cause flooding.
