Troy, NY (March 9) - Earth Day is an annual event held to educate people about and activate the environmental movement worldwide. First launched in 1970, more than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world. The City of Troy residents have developed broad public interest in Earth Day and Earth Week related activities, as evidenced by the popular Troy Spring cleanup events. Now is the time to let us know if you would like to host an Earth Day cleanup event!
Each year, neighborhoods and organizations throughout the city host cleanup events coinciding with Earth Week. These community events brings together residents, families, and business owners to improve community parks, green spaces and neighborhoods citywide. If you're interested in hosting an Earth Day cleanup between Saturday, April 15 to Sunday, April 23, or for more information about Troy Spring cleanup events go to https://www.troyny.gov/1331/Earth-Day. If you prefer to speak with someone and would like have your cleanup event added to the 2023 list, please contact the Special Recycling Department at recycling@troyny.gov or call (518) 279-7313.
The 2023 Earth Day Theme is “Invest in Our Planet” and a highly recommended activity this year is “Global Cleanup,” a worldwide campaign to clean up our communities, waterfronts, trails, and parks.
